- Hurricane Franklin became the first major hurricane of the season.
- A tropical storm warning has been issued for Bermuda.
- It will stay away from the East Coast.
- But it generates waves that will produce high waves and rip currents along the East Coast.
Hurricane Franklin will bring tropical storm conditions to Bermuda on Wednesday and will also continue to bring life-threatening surf and rip currents to the East Coast over the next few days.
Hurricane Franklin rapidly strengthened into the first major hurricane of the Atlantic season on Monday, but has begun to weaken and is no longer a major hurricane.

Franklin is tracking northeast and the core of the hurricane's strongest winds will be moved away from Bermuda.
Surf will likely be high in Bermuda, but some bands of heavy rain and tropical storm force winds are likely today. As a result, a tropical storm warning is in effect for Bermuda.
As Franklin heads away from the United States, it will send some high waves to the East Coast over the next few days. This may create dangerous beach conditions, including extreme currents, in some areas.
Be aware of this potential danger if you take a trip to the beach in late summer.
