Liberal leaders, key stakeholders and industry experts gathered in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland for the ALDE Liberal Energy Forum on 8-9 February.
The conference was attended by around 300 participants and focused on the future of EU energy policy to combat climate change and promote sustainable economic growth.

Co-Chair of the ALDE Party Timmy Dooley European Commissioner for Energy My destiny is Samson He opened the two-day event by leading a guided visit to the nearby Moneypoint Power Station, Ireland's largest electricity generator, and the site of the proposed floating offshore wind farm project.
The next day, Co-Chair Dooley and Commissioner Simpson once again took center stage in a conversation on the role of renewable energy in achieving the EU's climate goals.

โThe EU has succeeded in setting the legal framework for the future. We have very ambitious targets for renewables and 2030. We are setting out a vision for the most efficient path to modernizing the entire economy. Renewables are already, across Europe, becoming the most competitive. Commissioner Simpson said.
Various discussions took place throughout the morning, ranging from topics such as decarbonisation of industries such as agriculture and transport, the evolving landscape for nuclear and hydrogen and financing the energy transition.

The panels included high-end speakers such as Charlie McConalogue (Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Ireland), Romina Pourmokhtari (Minister of Climate and Environment, Sweden) W Billy Kelleher, Member of the European Parliament (Fianna Fรกil, IE).
โMy country has a climate framework in which our climate targets are set in law. All governments must Presenting an action plan to achieve net zero by 2045, we are on the right track. โWe have the lowest per capita emissions in Europe.โ Pourmokhtari said.
