During the first month of the war between Hamas and Israel, northern Gaza was subjected to heavy Israeli bombing. Paramedics from the International Society of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, many of them volunteers, are the first to respond to calls to Gaza's emergency number, 101.
Local filmmaker Firas Al-Ajarami documented their lives and work over several weeks for BBC News Arabic and the BBC World Service.
