    What's the weather forecast for Evansville and Henderson?

    Winter weather warnings are in effect Monday afternoon and evening in most of the Tri-States, and snow is likely, according to the National Weather Service. Here's what meteorologists have to say about today's forecast.

    First rain, then snow

    Rain chances increase in Evansville around noon, with a quarter to half an inch possible between then and 9 p.m.

    The weather service says the rain should turn to snow around 9 p.m. in the Evansville and Henderson areas, and end after midnight.

    How much snow will it fall in the Evansville area?

    The National Weather Service says “light wet snow accumulation” is possible.

    “Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing through this evening, with most accumulating on grassy and elevated surfaces,” meteorologists wrote at a morning news conference. “There may be a narrow band of heavy snow that produces heavy snowfall rates for a brief period. This may lead to some sluggish road conditions at times, even with warmer road surfaces.”

    The forecast generally calls for up to an inch of snow in the Evansville and Henderson areas, but the weather service said additional changes were possible throughout Monday.

    The rest of the week looks much nicer

    Starting Tuesday, temperatures will get warmer in the Tri-States. The high temperature on Tuesday is expected to reach 47 degrees on Tuesday, followed by 56 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, with sunny skies on those three days.

    Rain chances return on Friday as the next weather system moves into the area.
