A 10-year-old boy from Midland, Texas was killed by a driver who was in the United States illegally last Thursday.
The boy was walking near his elementary school Thursday afternoon when he was struck.
After being airlifted to Lubbock, the boy died in hospital Friday morning.
Rogelio Ortiz Olivas, 50, also known as Juan Ortiz Perez, is now in custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
After being returned to Mexico, he was deported five times from the United States.

MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – Update Friday 5:41 p.m.: Midland County Sheriff David Criner confirmed to CBS7 that after speaking with Immigration and Customs Enforcement or “ICE” Rogelio Ortiz Olivas who uses the name Juan Ortiz Perez is in immigration. Detainee.
Ortiz Olivas was first sent to Mexico on a voluntary deportation, and was subsequently deported 5 separate times. Otiz was confirmed by fingerprints taken during his first removal.
UPDATE FRIDAY 4:22 p.m.: The driver involved in a hit-and-run Thursday in Southeast Midland will face a new charge, the Midland Police Department reported Friday. This is according to a spokesperson for the city of Midland.

This is a direct result of open borders. 11 million illegal immigrants have invaded the United States in the past three years.
Texas has made its own efforts to secure the border and has seen results. Eagle Pass has seen a decrease in the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border since Governor Abbott closed the border.
