French Olympic champion Clement Noel's hopes of winning the men's World Cup race were dashed on Sunday in Bansko after organizers canceled it due to “heavy rain”.

Noel led his 30 competitors who completed the first round, which took place in appalling conditions, with fog and rain making it difficult for the racers, before it was decided that it was best to stop.

“The race has been canceled due to heavy rain in Bansko,” the sport’s governing body, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating today, but safety always comes first.

“Let's hope for better weather next time, and until then, stay safe and dry!”
