ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Another day, another record might be tied right here in Rochester. It will continue to be warm for now but the winds have shifted from the north and temperatures are already starting to drop behind a cold front. Tonight's lows will settle back into the low 30s and upper 20s across the region. The clouds being filled will prevent them from falling very far.

On Sunday, we will still be warmer than average for this time of year and by all technicalities we will be approaching 40 degrees around midnight. Afternoon highs will be closer to the mid 30s and with northerly winds and large clouds blowing throughout the day, it won't feel any hotter than that either.

On Monday, the low will hedge a bit but realistically we will still be in the mid-30s as the system begins to take shape south of us through the Appalachians. We don't expect to see much of this especially on Monday, but overnight and into Tuesday, snow showers and even steady snow are not out of the question across the Finger Lakes, especially in central New York.

Tuesday morning, we continue to monitor what is now a coastal depression near western New England, and the northern extension of the snow shield will be close by but it is still questionable whether or not it will have a significant impact on Rochester. Our current forecast calls for it to be farther south, but the Finger Lakes and South Livingston are still on the table for seeing snow here. Otherwise, we'll be cloudy, breezy and hovering around the low 30s.

From Wednesday forward with a strong shift in our winds becoming cooler to the west-northwest and spreading out and taking advantage of the still “warm” and ice-free Great Lakes. Enhanced snow showers are in and out of the lake during the second half of the week along with seasonal highs and lows in the 30s and low 20s.
