The cover of Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful's latest edition of British Vogue was released on February 8, 2023. It featured 40 of the “most reserved and graceful women on Earth,” including Oprah Winfrey, Salma Hayek, Gigi Hadid, and Serena Williams, to name a few. For example, she appears in a brilliant array of black and beige outfits.

“The end of an era. After six and a half years and 153 cover stars – including 40 legendary women photographed together in New York for the March 2024 issue – here is @Edward_Enninful's 76th and final issue of @BritishVogue,” it was captioned.

Edward Enninful has announced that he will step down as editor-in-chief of British Vogue after six years, revealing that the March 2024 cover will be his last issue. While he will no longer serve as Editor-in-Chief, he will take on the role of Global Creative and Cultural Advisor to Vogue and Editorial Advisor to British Vogue. BBC News reported.

He worked with Meghan Markle to unveil a special Forces of change edition of British Vogue in 2019, but it was later reported that the two had a falling out over creative differences.

MEGHAN Markle allegedly “ignored” Edward Enninful's recent British Vogue cover

When she appeared on the cover of British Vogue in March 2024, many astute fans pointed out that Meghan Markle was absent from the talented lineup of women, which even included eight women who appeared in the 2019 edition as guest editors of the Duchess of Sussex.

According to The Mirror, Markle became fast friends with Edward Enninful when the two worked together in 2019. However, it was later reported that the two had a falling out and had a bitter fallout over “bad ideas.”

Royal biographer Tom Power claimed that Markle was angry with Enninful's creative decision. In his book titled Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Houses of Windsor He also claimed that she was “difficult to approach”, and the two often quarreled over how to promote the special edition. This has not been confirmed by Markle or Enninful.

Edward Enninful's announcement to step down as editor-in-chief has rocked the fashion industry

Edward Enninful paved the way for diversity in fashion, and his resignation as editor-in-chief of British Vogue shocked the industry, where he was often thought of as Anna Wintour's successor.

According to The Guardian, he announced his exit via Instagram, saying that he “will continue to contribute to the creative and cultural success of the Vogue brand globally while having the freedom to take on broader creative projects” in his new role as Vogue's global creative. He is a cultural consultant and editorial consultant at British Vogue.

Since taking over from predecessor Alexandra Shulman in 2017, Edward Enninful has been known for breaking barriers during his time at British Vogue, where he called for diversity by featuring trans models and actresses with disabilities for the first time ever on the magazine's covers.

The 51-year-old fashion mogul was the first man and first black editor to hold the title of editor-in-chief. He was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to diversity in the fashion industry in 2016, and has consistently championed diversity, saying it “shouldn't even be an issue for me”. “Beauty beauty.”

According to The Cut, Edward Enninful will be the last person to hold the title of Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue, and his successor, Chioma Nnadi, will assume his position under the title of “Chief Editorial Content.”
