Liberals are marking the death of country music star Toby Keith, who passed away Monday at age 62 after a long battle with stomach cancer, by recreating his feud with the Dixie Chicks.
Keith's feud with Natalie Maines
“Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his battle with courage and bravery. Please respect his family's privacy at this time,” Keith's family said in a brief statement announcing his death.
Throughout his career, Keith has been known for releasing country and country music, recording hits such as “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue”, “I Love This Bar”, and “Should've Been a Cowboy”. Unfortunately, this made him a frequent target of liberals who disdained the American values he so proudly stood for.
In 2002, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks spoke out against Keith's song “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue”, calling the single “ignorant”.
“I hate it…it makes country music look ignorant. It's targeting an entire culture — not just bad people who have done bad things,” she told the Los Angeles Daily News of the song. “You've got to have some decency. Anyone can write: “We'll put a boot up your ass.” But a lot of people agree with that.”
Keith responded months later, telling CMT.com: “I'm a songwriter. She's not. She can say my song is ignorant, and it's ignorant of her to say that because she's not a songwriter.”
Maines went to the ACM Awards wearing a T-shirt that said “FUTK” – “F***You Toby Keith.” Her publicist later claimed that the letters on the shirt stood for “Freedom, Understanding, Tolerance, and Knowledge,” but no one believed it.
“Only Natalie can tell us why she dresses,” said Jay Orr, senior editor at the Country Music Hall of Fame. “I have no idea why she is wearing it. We can speculate on her motives, but that would be wrong.”

Although this feud ended many years ago, social media users tried to rehash it while celebrating Keith's death:

Keith's alleged feud with Kris Kristofferson
Others brought up the alleged political spat between Keith and Kris Kristofferson at Willie Nelson's birthday party in 2003. Legend has it that when Keith approached Nelson to wish him a happy birthday, he saw Kristofferson and said, “None of these lefties come out of Nelson.” “There tonight, Chris.”
“What did you just tell me?” Kristofferson replied, according to Outsider. “Have you ever worn your country's uniform before?”
“You heard the question, but you don't like the answer,” Kristofferson continued. “Have you ever served your country? The answer is no, you haven't. Have you ever killed another man? Huh? Have you ever killed another man and then cashed the check your country gave you for doing it? No, you haven't.” So shut your mouth!”
Keith later denied that this exchange ever occurred.
“Chris and I are good friends and have come close to working on a couple of projects,” Keith said in 2009. “I don't have to defend myself on this. This is 100 percent fiction. I'd bet a million dollars on a lie detector test that this didn't happen.”
“You know, when I call someone, I say their name,” he added. “So, you can talk to Chris and you can talk to Willie. … They'll all laugh and say that didn't happen. … Somebody's trying to get a novel in any magazine to make themselves a story. But if anybody's got anything to take this to “Beyond that, I'm available. … They can find out the truth.”
However, leftists also attempted to reframe this supposed disagreement after Keith's death:

It should be noted that Keith dared to perform at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration in 2017, which is an unforgivable sin in the eyes of the left. It's unfortunate that leftists are now celebrating Keith's death by bringing up his old feuds when he was a patriot who simply loved this country with all his heart.
Rest in peace, Toby Keith.
