Fountains of lava erupted from a fissure in southwest Iceland, in the third volcanic eruption since December.
Stunning footage from the Reykjanes Peninsula showed molten rock bleeding along a fissure estimated at three kilometers (1.86 miles) long near Selinjarville.
It shot plumes of lava more than 50 meters into the air, and was seen by a Coast Guard helicopter flying over the peninsula early Thursday morning.
The nearby town of Grindavik had already been evacuated during the recent eruption on January 14, and guests on Thursday were asked to leave the popular Blue Lagoon geothermal resort due to the latest eruption.
