A. Savage of Parquet Courts has released a new single called “Black Holes, the Stars and You”, which was recorded at the same session as his latest solo album LP Several songs about fire. Listen to it below.
“Black Holes, the Stars and You” was recorded at the same session Several songs about fire“But I didn’t make the record because albums can be too long,” Savage explained in a statement. It was a tough decision, but in the end I felt it was good enough to get its own release. I love the groove that John Parish and Dylan Hadley put together here using various Latin percussion instruments. It's a song I've been working on for a few years, and it had a lot of parts and lyrics, which John really helped me sculpt into what it is now, God bless. The song is about the different ways people see each other, and how the smaller we feel, the bigger others seem. Sometimes you find yourself circling someone who has no idea how big they are. Sometimes it feels like they're examining you in a Petri dish, their gaze a magnifying eye in the sky.
