Loudoun County, Virginia (Capital News Now) – The Washington leaders introduced their new coach Dan Quinn at the team's facility in Ashburn on Monday afternoon.
Quinn comes from the division rival Dallas Cowboys after spending three seasons as defensive coordinator.
“We told you we were going to go find the best leader in Washington football. Someone who we felt would lead Washington to become an elite franchise,” said Josh Harris, managing partner of the Washington Commanders.
Adam Peters, general manager of Leaders, said they went through an extensive process, speaking with many candidates in order to find the right person.
“But our process led us to the decision that Dan Quinn was the perfect man for the job,” Peters said.
Peters added that Quinn has all the qualities necessary for this role.
“He's without a doubt one of the best leaders in the NFL. You can ask anyone who's been around him. The coaches, the players… he's a first-class communicator, an excellent teacher and developer, not just for the players but for the coaches. He's smart, he's driven,” Peters said. “More than anything else, he is an exceptional person and a very great person who will lead this team in the right way.”
Quinn said he feels honored and privileged to be able to be a part of this moment.
“We know where we are, we know who you are, we know what this franchise means to you, and what it will take to get it back where it deserves,” Quinn said.
