Ayo Edebiri is set to host Saturday Night Live today alongside Jennifer Lopez. However, before The bear The star's first appearance on SNL, her past insults directed at Lopez have resurfaced online.
In February 2020, while speaking on the Scam Goddess podcast with Laci Mosley, Ayo called the “On The Floor” hitmaker's career a scam. She said at the time:
“Today I was thinking about one of my favorite scams ever. 'Cause JLo is hosting…err…performing at half time for the Super Bowl.”
Lacey added to this:
“It is. It is a fraud in itself.”
IU also intervened, criticizing Jennifer Lopez's singing ability and said:
“And her entire career is one long scam.”

Saturday Night Live posted a preview of its latest episode on February 3 on its YouTube channel. In the video, Ayo Edebiri introduces herself standing between JLo and Heidi Gardner. She told the audience that she will be hosting the show this week with Lopez by her side. JLo then turns to Ayo and says:
“I'm really excited. I love your show.”
Io answers:
“I love everything about you.”
The three then go on to take some additional shots to film their opening lines. However, the contradiction between IU's previous statements about the singer and her current stance confused many viewers.
Many pointed out that it would be awkward for IU and Jennifer Lopez to star in a skit together. Some said the younger actress faked the “love everything” about the singer on the SNL show.
It wasn't clear from the SNL show whether or not JLo was aware of Ayo's comments about her on the 2020 podcast. However, hostility could not be seen in her interaction with Ayo Edebiri in the video.
