Lawrence Smalls III, 9, son of Lawrence and Aretia Smalls, is in fourth grade at William H. Owen Elementary School.
He was nominated as a future black history maker because “Little Lawrence, as we like to call him, embodies so many great leadership qualities,” wrote his mother, Arieta Smalls, who nominated him. “Although he doesn't see it much himself, we are sure that his strong will and sense of justice will make a way for him in the world. Lawrence uses his voice to speak on behalf of others. He wants to do what is right and just and will stand up for those who have been hurt.” “For ill-treatment.”
