According to the latest Fortnite leaks, the developers are planning something big for LEGO Fortnite. The mode could have mod support and DLC in the future. This information comes from veteran leaker/data miner ShiinaBR. He was quick to pick things up from a leaked survey that was shared online a while ago. Epic Games posted a survey asking the community:
“Why did you create multiple worlds in LEGO Fortnite?”
Their options were:
” class=”promoted-img” Loading=”lazy” width=”1440″ height=”220″ alt=”fortnite-promotional-banner” />
- I wanted to use mod.
- I wanted to use DLC.
Although this question doesn't arise as much when it comes to other games, it does here. The mode has no official mods associated with it or downloadable content that players can purchase/download. As such, the only conclusion that can be drawn here is that Epic Games is developing something related to either mods or DLC.
How will mods and DLC work in LEGO Fortnite?
While details on how mods and DLC will work in this mode are lacking, it will likely follow a similar pattern seen in other video games. Using mods, players will be able to pick and choose what they want on their server and implement them freely. Everyone who joins the server will be able to experience these modifications first-hand.
They can range from things like custom enemies, NPCs, biomes, and everything in between. The majority of them are likely community-made and are guaranteed by Epic Games to ensure they meet the necessary standards. Some of them can be created by developers as well.
Coming to the DLC, it can be paid or free. As with mods, players will be able to add them to their servers to experience the content they contain. They'll all likely come from Epic Games only. Since the DLC is more official in nature, it will not be fan-made or community-made. Like a lot of mods, they will add a variety of things to LEGO Fortnite.
When can mods and DLC be added to LEGO Fortnite?
Considering that the information comes from a leaked survey conducted by Epic Games, it is possible that it is in early development at the moment. Alternatively, it could only be in the planning stages. Since LEGO Fortnite has only been released for about two months, it is still in development.
Furthermore, with new content such as NPCs and the rumored Ninjago collaboration not being added, mods and DLC will take some time. According to rough estimates, it may take a year or maybe more before Epic Games officially announces mod support and DLC for this mode.
