South London artist Lewis culture Today she shared her self-produced single Mannequin, lifted from a project landing later this year.
The new single follows last year's double club release, “Rules / No Love”. Through soaring, exhilarating production, Lewis explores his creative inertia; The spark of inspiration comes from nothing but emptiness.
Lewis explains: “My friend Dom Valentino (the producer) let me use his studio for a week, but when I walked in I wasn't really feeling inspired or even in the mood to make music. But what I do know is that I was searching for a feeling that I had not yet explored. One of the last days in the studio, I made a bunch of beats and didn't think about it. Then the next Monday I woke up at home, pretty much passed out and did this. The mannequin was the feeling I was looking for, which ironically doesn't feel anything.
This April, the progressive rapper embarks on a headlining tour that includes a homecoming show at London's Village Underground on April 18.
