Mayra Flores, the conservative Latino Republican from Texas, made history two years ago by flipping a Texas seat that had gone to no Republican in 100 years.
Democrats rushed to regain the seat in a special election months later. They spent huge amounts of money and did everything they could to win the election, outperforming Flores.
Now Flores is fighting hard to regain the GOP seat, and is raising big dollar amounts to do so.

A Hispanic community leader is raising big money seeking to flip a Democratic-controlled border congressional seat
A Hispanic conservative leader aiming to flip a Democratic-controlled congressional district on the US border with Mexico announced Monday that she has raised a huge sum of money to support her bid.
According to her campaign, former Republican Rep. Mayra Flores, who briefly represented Texas' 34th Congressional District from 2022 to 2023, raised more than $970,000 from 16,617 unique donors in all 50 states during the fourth quarter of 2023.
“I am overwhelmed and incredibly grateful for the continued outpouring of support for our campaign,” Flores told Fox News Digital. “Voters across the Rio Grande Valley and the country know that our southern border is a disaster, that illegal immigration is out of control, and Democrats like Joe Biden and Vicente Gonzalez They are the only ones responsible.”
“We work every day to share our mission of securing borders, lowering costs for families, improving education and health care, and restoring the greatness of our country — and that's exactly what I will do on Day One when we take back that control,” she added. “We sit down and put the TX-34 people back in charge.”
