Severe weather is possible for millions in the central United States
More than 16 million people in the central United States once again face the potential for severe storms on Wednesday. Severe weather, including tornadoes, hail and damaging winds, is likely along the high plains of Wyoming and Colorado, as well as parts of Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

Things to know
The Houston area faces a renewed flood threat
Heavy rain fell in parts of the Houston area within two hours on Tuesday, causing flooding that grounded some vehicles. A very similar scenario is expected to play out in Space City again on Wednesday, when 3 to 5 inches of rain is possible. Flooding is also likely throughout eastern Texas, western Louisiana, southeastern Oklahoma and much of Arkansas.

$7 billion worth of disasters have already struck the United States this year
We are only five months into 2023, and the country has already suffered seven disasters with losses exceeding $1 billion, and damage totaling $19 billion. Among the disasters that occurred until the end of April were five severe weather waves, one winter storm, and one flood.
