The Airports Authority will host a public information workshop to discuss the future growth of Apple Valley Airport.
The Apple Valley Airport Master Plan study will be discussed during the meeting from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, February 1 at the airport terminal, 21600 Corwin Road in Apple Valley.
An Apple Valley Airport study is being conducted to evaluate the airport's capabilities and role, and to forecast future aviation demand, according to San Bernardino County officials. The study will also include timely development plans for new or expanded facilities that may be required.
The objective of the master plan is to provide systematic guidelines for the maintenance, development and overall operation of the airport.
The master plan was undertaken to ensure that the airport management could coordinate project approvals, design, financing and construction to avoid experiencing adverse impacts due to inadequate facilities.
Following FAA guidelines for the process of selecting consultants based on qualifications, Coffman Associates, Inc. was selected. To implement the master plan.
Kaufman Associates is a national aviation consulting firm specializing in airport planning studies.
The study process is expected to take approximately 16 months, followed by agency reviews and approvals.
The structure of the master plan follows guidelines issued by the Federal Aviation Administration, which will review and approve the aviation forecast and airport layout plan, which includes technical drawings of the current and planned layout of the airport.
The draft master plan chapters will be submitted to and reviewed by the Planning Advisory Committee, which is comprised of various airport stakeholders, including representatives from the City of Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, airport corporations, tenants, area economic development interests, and airport management. . , and FAA.
Three public information workshops are planned at strategic points in this process to encourage citizens to learn more about the airport plans.
Public comments
Citizens are encouraged to provide comments and suggestions to the project team. Comment papers are submitted to the PAC and at information workshops.

The first flights into Apple Valley to the old airport were by Air West's former Bonanza Airlines from the late 1950s until 1966: DC-3s, then Fairchild F-27s.
