SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The weekend came to an end with the return of the sunshine on Sunday. Look for the sunshine to continue through most of this week. The risk of rain will return Friday night and Saturday and could continue into Sunday. Temperatures will remain higher than normal.
Tuesday, a taste of spring: We have been seeing a gradual warming trend over the past few days. Temperatures Monday afternoon rose into the mid to upper 60s in parts of the area. This warm trend will continue on Tuesday thanks to plenty of sunshine and a westerly breeze. Temperatures Tuesday morning will be fairly cold as we will see lows in the 30s and 40s. Daytime highs Tuesday afternoon will be warmer as most of the area will see highs in the 70s. Tuesday will likely be the warmest day of the week with highs returning to the 60s Wednesday and into the weekend. Overnight lows will also remain above normal and will mainly be in the 40s.
The sun keeps coming! Futurecast shows that we have nothing to worry about when it comes to rain. Expect clear skies over ArkLaTex Monday night. We will again see plenty of sunshine on Tuesday. Expect mostly clear skies Tuesday night and a mix of lots of sunshine and some clouds during the day Wednesday. We will likely start to see more clouds mixing with the sunshine on Thursday and Friday but most of the area will remain dry. That will change this weekend as a major upper-level disturbance moves across the southern half of the country.
Centaur Mandi parade? The risk of rain will likely return to much of the ArkLaTex Friday night and continue through most of Saturday. It seems fairly likely that we will see some rain during at least part of the Krewe of Centaur parade on Saturday afternoon. The good news is that we are unlikely to have to worry about any severe weather. Temperatures for Saturday's show will likely start out in the low 60s and then slowly cool into the 50s. The weekend will end with clouds and a chance of lingering rain. Temperatures on Sunday will be a little cooler with highs in the 50s.
How much rain over the weekend? The mix of long-term models shows we will likely see at least 1.5 inches of rain over the entire ArkLaTex over the next 10 days. Most of this rain will fall this weekend. The rest will drop at the end of next week. We will likely see several days of dry weather starting next week. The risk of rain may return next Thursday. Temperatures next week will remain fairly mild with highs in the 50s and 60s.
