Catherine, Princess of Wales, leaves hospital after abdominal surgery

LONDON – Catherine, Princess of Wales, has been discharged from a central London hospital and returned to her home in Windsor, nearly two weeks after undergoing major abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace announced Monday.

Catherine spent 13 days at the London Clinic, the same private hospital where King Charles III was recovering from surgery for an enlarged prostate. The king underwent surgery on Friday and spent his third night in the hospital.

Kensington Palace in London said statement On Monday, Catherine, 42, was “making good progress.” They previously said her procedure was “planned” and that the problem was “non-cancerous.”

It is expected that the future queen will need a long period of time to recover. She is not scheduled to return to her official duties until after Easter.

Palace officials are usually tight-lipped about the health of royals, and although few details have been revealed, it came as a surprise when, earlier this month, the palace made successive health announcements. Charles, 75, is said to have gone public with his problems as a way to encourage other men with symptoms to get their prostate checked.

It's been an eventful period for Royal Health news. Last week, Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew's ex-wife, said she had been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a type of skin cancer.
