FORT WAYNE – The Fort Wayne Farm Show returns in 2024.
Attendees can expect to enjoy innovations and tools featured in more than 1,000 booths as well as ample opportunities to attend seminars to learn more about current topics in agriculture from the Purdue Cooperative Extension and Northeast Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
This year's farm show begins Jan. 16 and continues Jan. 18 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.
We have a great lineup of speakers at this year's Farm Show! All educational sessions will be held in Appleseed Room A, directly off the main exhibition floor, except for lunch on January 17, which will be in Appleseed Room B.
At 10 a.m. on January 16, David Kohli and John Cavanaugh will provide their 2024 grain market forecasts, with Ryan Martin adding weather and Rob Winters also providing input.
At 11:30 a.m., Carrie Vollmer-Sanders, director of sustainability at U.S. Farmers & Ranchers in Action, will discuss how farmers can benefit from global climate action. At 2 p.m., there will be a two-hour recertification program for private applicants with Dr. Christian Krupke, professor of entomology at Purdue University; Anne Klein, Purdue Extension Educator, and James Wolfe, Purdue Extension Educator. Special Applicant Rehabilitation, Category 1, 14, and RT Commercial credits will be available if you attend the full two hours for a cost of $10.
January 17 begins at 9 a.m. with breakfast, with Noah Rady, grain production specialist with ADM, speaking about “Coffee and…the demand for renewable agricultural products,” followed by Hugo Vanroesel, grain production specialist with ADM, to present US Grain Market Forecast. This session will conclude with Brian Wiggins, Alternative Farm Revenue Manager at ADM, speaking on “Exploring Grain Marketing Alternatives.”
At 11:30 a.m., there will be a special Farm Bureau luncheon featuring Brianna Schroeder, a partner with Jansen Schroeder Ag Law. Schroeder will speak on “Hot Topics in Land Use.” This is a free lunch with the first 150 people in the door getting a meal. The lunch was sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau Inc. and the Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley County Farm Bureaus.
At 2pm on January 17, there will be three presentations on “New Technology in Environmental Conservation”. This session will be led by Rhiannon Lake, Conservation Program Specialist at Allen County SWCD and Adam Shanks, Digital Agriculture and Natural Resources Curriculum Leader at Purdue University.
At 5:30pm Wednesday, Dan Gordon, owner and attorney at Gordon Legal, will talk to us about the importance of farm succession.
At 10 a.m. on Jan. 18, the Indiana Soybean Alliance, Indiana Corn Marketing Board and Soil and Water Results Fund will sponsor a breakfast with the “Cultivating Resilience: Financial Incentives for Environmental Stewardship through Soil and Water Results Funds” program.
At 11 a.m. on Jan. 18, Mike Lambton, Indiana Farm Bureau Agent, and Courtney Schmidt, Purdue Extension Educator, will speak together on “Insurance and Agritourism.”
The final session, at 12:30 PM on January 18, will be an office hours-type format for farm show leaders to meet with CCSI, Farm Service Agency, Indiana State Department of State, local SWCDs, local watershed organizations, NRCS, and OCRA . , and Bordeaux extension.
The Farm Fair is open from 9am to 5pm on January 16, 9am to 8pm on January 17, and 9am to 4pm on January 18.
