The overall wet and humid weather conditions are expected to continue across the state on Saturday and a few inches of snow could accumulate in northwestern areas of the state Sunday into Monday.
Early morning fog is expected to cover much of South Jersey from Trenton to Cape May on Saturday morning, but the National Weather Service in Mount Holly expects the fog to dissipate before noon.
The fog warning is expected to be lifted by 10 a.m. for coastal counties from Ocean to Cape May as well as southern Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Cumberland and Salem counties, according to a National Weather Service forecast Saturday morning.
Clouds remain in the forecast across New Jersey once the fog clears, with rain and wind expected overnight in some areas. The National Weather Service says some minor coastal flooding is possible with rain moving from the southwest to the northeast starting around midnight Saturday.
Areas of South Jersey will see rain Saturday night into Sunday morning as a storm system moves in from the southwest and brings winds at the end of the storm. Meteorologists with the National Weather Service don't expect much, if any, snow to fall in much of the state as temperatures remain mild, but there is a chance for a wintry mix.
Accuweather is more optimistic with its snow forecast, indicating a more than likely chance of a few inches of snow in areas of Sussex County and higher elevations in the state. The National Weather Service is forecasting trace amounts of snow in northwestern counties with up to 2 inches of snow based on the cold air behind the weather system this weekend.
Rain is the most likely scenario from Saturday into Sunday. Forecasters expect heavy rain early Sunday across New Jersey, but they don't expect the rain to be heavy enough to cause flooding.
Winds are expected to increase at the back of the storm system with gusts up to 25 mph across much of the state and 35 mph along the coast.
