It is difficult to think of any Western democracy where a political figure facing 91 criminal charges could command significant support among voters. However, according to a poll conducted in December, this is the case in the United States today.
Trump is the front-runner to win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, although a majority of voters across the country, including an increasingly large number of Republicans, believe he has committed serious federal crimes, according to a recent New York Times poll.
