Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp will step down at the end of the season, saying he is “running out of energy”.
Klopp was appointed in October 2015, and his contract was scheduled to run until 2026.
He won the Champions League in 2019 before leading Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years in 2019-20.
“I already informed the club in November,” said the 56-year-old Klopp, who announced his decision with the Premier League leaders.
“I can understand that it's a shock to a lot of people at this moment, when you first hear it, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it.”
“I love everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our fans, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But for me to still make this decision shows you that I am convinced.” This is the one I should take.
“The problem is that, how can I say it, I've run out of energy. I don't have any problem now. Obviously I've already known that for the longest time that I'm going to have to announce it at some point, but I'm completely fine now. I know I can't do it.” “This mission over and over again.”

“I would never manage a different club in England.”
Klopp is the only Liverpool manager to have won the League Title, European Cup/Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup with the Reds.
He led Liverpool to win their sixth European Cup in 2019 when they beat Tottenham in the Champions League final in Madrid.
They followed that up in the 2019-20 season by winning the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup and, most importantly, lifting the Premier League title.
Liverpool won the domestic cup double in the 2021-22 season, narrowly missing out on the quadruple as they were beaten by Manchester City on the final day of the Premier League season and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid in Paris.
The Reds failed to win any major title last season, but are in contention for four titles this season. They beat Fulham on Wednesday to reach the Carabao Cup final.
“It didn't start [then]But of course last season was kind of a very difficult season and there were moments where the decision at other clubs was probably: “Come on, thank you very much for everything but maybe we should split up here, or end it here.” .' “Obviously that did not happen here,” Klopp added.
“For me, it was very, very important that I could help get this team back on track. That was all I was thinking about.”
“When I realized very early on what had happened, this is a really good team with huge potential, a super age group, super personalities and all that, then I could start thinking about myself again and this was the result. This is not what I want to do.” [do]That's what I believe 100%.”
Liverpool assistant coaches Pepe Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, as well as elite development coach Vitor Matos, will leave the club along with Klopp.
Sporting director Jörg Schmadtke will leave at the end of the January transfer window, after being appointed in June.
In addition to topping the English Premier League and in the UEFA Cup final, Liverpool hosts Norwich City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday and qualifies for the round of 16 of the Europa League.
“Let's take everything out of this season and have something else to smile about when we look back in the future,” Klopp said.
Klopp has a win rate of 60.7%, the highest of any Liverpool manager who has played more than 50 games for the club.
“If you asked me: Would you work as a manager again?” “I will now say no,” Klopp added.
“But I don't know clearly how I would feel because I've never been in this situation before.
“What I know for sure is that I will not coach another club in England other than Liverpool 100%. This is not possible.”
FSG is 'extremely sad' over Klopp's loss
Mike Gordon, chairman of Fenway Sports Group, which owns Liverpool, described Klopp's appointment as “one of the greatest blessings of our time as owners.”
“First of all, on behalf of [principal owner] John Henry W [FSG chairman] Tom Werner, I would like to express our deep appreciation to Jurgen,” Gordon said.
He added: “It goes without saying that we will be deeply saddened by the loss of not only such a competent director, but also a person and leader for whom we have great respect, gratitude and affection.”
He added: “At the same time, we fully respect his wishes and the reasons that made him decide that the current season will be his last at Liverpool.”
The fact that Klopp told the club in November of his intention to step down as coach means that preparations have likely begun to find his replacement.
Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who played for the Reds from 2004 until 2009, appears to be the favorite to take over from Klopp.
Alonso is coaching the German team Bayer Leverkusen, which leads the German League by four points from Bayern Munich, and has not lost a single match in the league this season.
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann is contracted until the end of this summer's European Championships, while Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbe and Tottenham's Ange Postecoglou are notable names in the bookmakers.
Regarding Liverpool, Liverpool said that the Dutch coach will leave Anfield “to pursue his career in management.”
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, who was there recently He signed a new contract with the Saudi Al-Ittifaq Club Until 2027, it will look like from the outside.
