Florida faces the threat of tornadoes for a second day after damage was reported in the Tampa Bay area
A tropical disturbance, which brought beneficial rain to the drought-stricken Southeastern United States, stoked the threat of tornadoes in Florida for the second day in a row. The highest risk area includes places like Tampa, Orlando and Gainesville. There is also a risk of wind damage with any severe thunderstorms.
In the Tampa Bay area. Clearwater Fire and Rescue Hurricane Management responded to visible damage to two homes in North Clearwater Beach early Thursday morning. No injuries were reported in the area.
Severe storms are possible in the central United States
A cross-country storm targets the heartland with severe storms that can produce hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. The highest risk for severe weather is in an area extending from Nebraska to Kansas. It also includes the western parts of Iowa and Missouri.
Hurricane Headquarters: The active Atlantic Ocean continues to produce storms
Shawn weakened to a tropical depression overnight, but the former tropical storm was joined by a new disturbance in the eastern Atlantic as part of a tropical traffic jam in the making. Neither Shawn nor the disturbance, dubbed Invest 94L, appear to pose a downside threat at this time.
