John Cooper, frontman of the Grammy-nominated Christian rock band Skillet, spoke out this week to criticize singer Demi Lovato over her song “Swine,” which was released as a form of protest on the first anniversary of the Supreme Court. The Court's 2022 reversal of Roe V. Wade.
Cooper ripped Lovato
During an appearance on PluggedIn to promote his new book “Wimpy, Weak, & Woke,” Cooper brought up Lovato's pro-abortion song.
It was her anti-life song. “In that one song, she summed up a lot of evil,” Cooper said. “In that song, you give us the best pro-life argument we always make, which is that people don't kill their kids because they can't afford it. They kill their kids because they want to have sex with 'whoever I want, whenever I want.' I don't want to use birth control. I should “To be able to do what I want.”
“It's pure narcissism, pure evil, and then you're screaming at all the people who say this is murder,” he added, continuing to call on parents not to ignore Lovato's song and instead “have those conversations with your kids.” It will take some work for you to understand the world view. But for my kids, when they started to understand these things, they said, “This is terrible.”

Lovato promoting the movie “Pigs”
Lovato, who identifies as non-binary, confirmed last year that “Pigs” was meant to be a rallying cry for reproductive rights.
“It's been a year since the Supreme Court dismantled the constitutional right to safe abortion, and although the road ahead will be difficult, we must continue to be united in our fight for reproductive justice,” she wrote on Instagram. “I created SWINE to amplify the voices of those who advocate for choice and bodily autonomy.”
“I want this song to empower not only people born in this country, but everyone who stands for equality, to embrace their agency and fight for a world where every person's right to make decisions about their body is respected,” she added. on time.
Lyrics to “Swine” include: “God forbid, I want to suck all I want/God forbid, I want to fuck whoever I want/And if he cums, I guess I gotta be a mommy.”
“Fuck, what I think, I don't know nothing/The government knows my body/No, it's okay, it's better this way, I'm just a carbon copy/Even if I'm dying, they'll still try to stop me,” the song continues.

Lovato's anti-Trump song
Unsurprisingly, Lovato has been an outspoken critic of Donald Trump. In 2020, I wrote the song “Commander in Chief” to send a message to him.
“There have been so many times I wanted to write the president a letter or sit down with him and ask him these questions,” she told CNN. “And then I thought, 'I don't really want to do that,' and I thought one way I could do it is to write a song and release it for the whole world to hear, and then he would have to answer these questions for everyone and not just me.”
Lovato is hugely popular with millions of young girls, so it's sad and disturbing that she's using her platform to promote things like abortion. We applaud Cooper for speaking out against it, and we think his criticism was valid!
