    Freezing rain may impact the Tuesday morning commute

    The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Monday night into Tuesday morning, with freezing rain falling across the region.  Light icing is possible on untreated and raised surfaces.  Roads may be slippery during the commute Tuesday morning.

    The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory Monday night into Tuesday morning, as freezing rain is expected in Stark County.

    The advisory, in effect from midnight to noon Tuesday, covers northcentral Ohio, northeastern Ohio, northwestern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania.

    Light icing is possible on untreated and raised surfaces. Motorists are advised that roads may be slippery during their commute Tuesday morning. Total ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are possible.

    “Slow down and use caution when traveling,” the Advisory Weather Service says.

    The precipitation is expected to turn to rain early Tuesday afternoon.

    The Meteorological Authority expects temperatures to rise above average later in the week. Last week's 3 to 4 inches of snowfall in the Canton area will melt into memory as Thursday's high temperature is expected to reach 50 degrees.

    Tuesday: Freezing rain before 10 a.m., then rain. High near 39. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph. The probability of rain is 100%. The probability of new ice accumulating is less than 0.1 inch.

    Tuesday night: Bathing. Low around 37. South wind around 8 mph. The probability of rain is 80%. The possibility of new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch.

    Wednesday: Possibility of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 48. South wind 6 to 9 mph. The probability of rain is 70%. New rainfall amounts are likely between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

    Wednesday night: Bathing. Low is around 44. Chance of rain is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half of an inch are possible.

    Thursday: Bathing. High temperature is near 55. Chance of rain is 90%.

    Thursday night: Rain is possible, especially before 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 46. Chance of rain 70%.

    Friday: Cloudy, with a high temperature approaching 50.

    Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low reaching 36 degrees.

    Saturday: Cloudy, with a high temperature approaching 44.

    Saturday night: Chance of rain showers. Cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of rain 30%.

    Sunday: Partly cloudy, and the maximum temperature is approaching 39.
