CLEVELAND — We're tracking some freezing rain as it approaches Northeast Ohio, which is why the National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a winter weather advisory for counties across the region — and it will be in effect all Tuesday morning.
“The problem is we have frozen surfaces, so when the rain hits it freezes right away,” explains Matt Wentz, chief meteorologist at 3News. “And we're dealing with some smooth travel of untreated surfaces. The salt will work on that, so that's good news. But as we go through that morning rush hour, we could have some slick spots, and maybe a glaze on some surfaces.”
Wentz says we'll be clear after lunch tomorrow.

Effective from 12am to 12pm on Tuesday
“Plan for slippery road conditions,” according to the alert issued by the National Weather Service in Cleveland. “Hazardous conditions may impact the morning commute.”
The precipitation is then expected to turn to rain by early Tuesday afternoon.
