Tony Khan made a big announcement regarding the future of AEW with the return of one of the original concepts.
Announced on commentary while referencing AEW Collision's social media post tonight, January 20, is a return to the rankings system.
Tony Khan wrote on Twitter during tonight's episode of AEW Collision:
“Ranks are back in AEW from now on, starting this month! @AEW is having a very exciting January, and this is just the beginning of an amazing 2024 for AEW and our fans.
“Thank you all for watching Saturday Night #AEWCollision now on @TNTdrama!”
With commentary by Tony Schiavone indicating the return of the rankings, a throwback to the beginning of AEW five years ago.
A return to AEW's roots by re-establishing the rankings system could provide an interesting opportunity to “reboot” the title chase in the company.
Elsewhere on tonight's Collision, Adam Copeland secured victory over Dante Martin after the latter put in an impressive display in the 'Cope Open' Challenge.
