Former First Lady Melania Trump appeared visibly emotional Thursday morning when she delivered a powerful eulogy for her mother, Amalia Knavs, who died on January 9 at the age of 78.
Melania Trump delivers an emotional eulogy
The Daily Mail reported that Melania (53 years old) eulogized her mother during her funeral at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Florida, the same church in which she married former President Donald Trump in 2005.
“Her nurturing spirit knew no bounds, creating a legacy that will last for generations,” Melania said of Amalia. “With her beauty and impeccable sense of style, she turned heads. But it was her unwavering dedication and hard work that made her exceptional.
Melania went on to talk about how much Amalia loved her 17-year-old grandson, Barron, whom she “overwhelmed with affection, and lit up his world with love, tender care, and unwavering devotion.”
“In her presence, the world seemed to sparkle with radiant joy,” Melania added. “She was not just a friend, she was a confidant. A ray of light in the darkest of days. In her company, I found peace in knowing that she would always be there to listen. She celebrated our successes and provided unwavering support during times of chaos.”
“Our bond was unbreakable,” she added. “A testament to the power of true love for each other. She was my dearest friend. An irreplaceable treasure. A gift given to me by the universe. And for that I am completely grateful.”
“Rest in peace, my beloved mother,” Melania concluded, her voice cracking with emotion.

Donald honors his mother-in-law
Donald had flown from New York City to Florida in the early hours of Thursday morning to attend the funeral. He previously honored his late mother-in-law in a speech Monday night after his landslide victory in the Iowa caucus.
“I think most importantly, I want to thank my wonderful wife, the first lady, I will say the former and maybe the future, but more importantly than Melania, I want to thank her wonderful, beautiful mother who passed away a few days ago.” He said at the time. “And she's up there, up there. She's looking down, and she's so proud of us.”
He continued: “And I just want to say to Amalija, you are special, and one of the most special people I have ever known.” “And that was a difficult time for the family. But it – it's amazing. It was amazing.”

Amalia's life
The Mail reported that Amalia was born in Gudendorf-Strassingel, Austria, and later moved to Slovenia while it was still under communist rule. She lived a humble childhood, spending her time harvesting onions on her family's farm before starting work in a textile mill, where she met her surviving husband, Victor.
Amalia and Victor eventually moved to the United States, and were frequently present at the White House during their son-in-law's presidency to help Melania care for Barron. After Donald left office, the Knaves lived in retirement at his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.
Melania's eulogy for her mother shows once again what a level-headed and articulate First Lady she truly was, despite the media's attempts to portray her as otherwise. Please join us in saying a prayer for Melania and her family during this difficult time.
