It was revealed Thursday morning that country music star Reba McEntire will perform the national anthem at next month's Super Bowl.
McEntire to perform at the Super Bowl
It was announced that during the Super Bowl, McEntire will sing “The Star Spangled Banner,” rapper Post Malone will perform “America the Beautiful,” and singer Andra Day will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” known as the black national anthem. McIntyre told CBS News that her manager told her about this amazing opportunity.
“He said they wanted me to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’” “Well, let me think about that,” McIntyre, 68, said. “And my friend Rex Lane, who is a huge football fan, said: 'Yes, you will.' Absolutely.” So this is where we are.
While this will be McEntire's first time performing at a Super Bowl, she has been singing the national anthem for decades, having done so in public for the first time in 1974 at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City.
“I am honored to be a part of something as big and historic as the Super Bowl, which will be held in Las Vegas for the first time,” she said in a separate statement, according to Taste Of Country. “2024 marks 50 years since I was caught performing the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate that anniversary.”
That's why she feels confident she'll be ready to take the stage at Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11.
“You just warm up like you're doing a concert and sing it about five or six times, and then you get in there and do it,” McIntyre concluded.

McEntire is “in a really good place” in her life
This comes one month after McEntire spoke out about where she is currently in her life.
“I'm in a really good place in my life,” McIntyre told People magazine. “I am happy, I am in love. My children are all healthy. My family is healthy. I am very happy.”
McEntire went on to reveal her New Year's resolutions, explaining that she has professional and personal resolutions as we head into 2024.
“The professional thing is to keep doing what I love to do. Say no to things that won't be fun. Say yes to things that will be,” she said. “The personal thing is to have fun — just keep being happy and healthy. This is what I pray for daily.”

McIntyre's love life
Lane, who McEntire has been dating for four years, has played a major role in her recent happiness.
“It's nice to have someone to talk to, laugh with, and broach topics about what's going on,” McIntyre previously said of him, according to Yahoo News. “Discussions about our past, our family, funny stories, him being an actor, me being an actress.”
“And he's a huge fan of my music. I'm very interested in his career,” she added. “It's great to be talking to someone who I find so interesting, so funny, so smart, and who's interested in me too.”
In a world where many celebrities are politically divisive, McEntire is one of the few stars who truly appeals to everyone. We can't wait to see how you perform our country's great national anthem at the Super Bowl next month!
