The accident follows Tuesday's Iranian attack on Pakistani territory led to the death of two children In Balochistan province, southwest of the country.

Ali Reza Marhamti, deputy governor of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, told Iranian state television that at least seven people, including four children and three women, were killed in the raids launched by Pakistan on Thursday.

Iran and nuclear-armed Pakistan have long viewed each other with suspicion over border attacks, and each side blames the other for turning a blind eye to militants.

HalVash, an advocacy group for the Baloch people, shared photos online that appear to show remnants of munitions used in the attack. She added that a number of homes were bombed in the city of Saravan in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

But while this apparent exchange raised local tensions and spread fears of a broader regional conflict erupting as a result of the Israeli war in Gaza, both sides targeted the same group of rebels, based on both sides of their shared border.

On Tuesday, Iran targeted Jaish al-Adl, a banned Sunni Islamist separatist group that is anti-Iran and seeks independence for Iran's eastern Sistan province and Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan provinces, making it a common target for both governments.

There has been a low-level insurgency by nationalists for more than two decades, and like other Baloch separatist groups active in the region, the Jaish al-Adl has a common goal of Balochistan's independence for the Baloch ethnic regions of Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan.

This group emerged in 2012 and consists mostly of members of the Sunni militant group Jundallah, which was weakened after Iran arrested most of its members.
