Due to inclement weather, the TCU campus is closed and all classes have been canceled on Tuesday, January 16. All essential student services will continue, including transportation to dining halls and housing.
The safety of our campus community is our top priority. According to the National Weather Service, our area is under a Wind Chill Warning and a Hard Freeze Warning; Freezing temperatures and road conditions are expected to become dangerous Tuesday morning. TCU Police are available for emergency (817-257-7777) and non-emergency (817-257-7930) support. See below for details regarding services provided to students and information for faculty and staff.
Be safe and use good judgment

Meal service will continue during the winter weather closure, but hours and menus may be limited. TCU Dining's Instagram will be your best source for the latest information.
Residence halls and fraternity and sorority houses will remain open; There will always be an RA on duty in the residence halls and professional staff on duty to respond to student needs.
Check the Residence Hall Instagram accounts for updates on programs and activities.
When classes are cancelled
When the University is closed due to inclement weather, all instruction and academic activities, whether online or in-person, on or off campus, will cease until the University officially reopens. Since there is no guarantee of being able to communicate or access academic resources, students will not be expected to attend online class, submit assignments, take tests, or meet any scheduled deadlines during the closure.
Students participating in clinical rotations, internships, or other required off-site activities should communicate directly with their instructors or administrators to determine details when there is a scheduling conflict with TCU's emergency preparedness plan. In the event of a problem, your safety is our first concern.
When classes resume, faculty will inform students of revised course expectations and deadlines to ensure that course learning objectives are met. Any make-up time will be done during scheduled class time or through out-of-class activities.
Faculty and staff
When the University is closed, many employees will continue to provide essential services to ensure the health and safety of our community, support the presence of resident students and/or support agreements with the public to use University facilities.
Each department is responsible for identifying and communicating with employees who must report to work during a weather event. Employees who have questions about work expectations should contact their immediate supervisor. Employees may refer to University Policy 5.008 Employee Absence Due to Inclement Weather.
Athletics or campus events
Occasionally, depending on evolving weather conditions, sporting or other major events may still take place while the campus is closed; These decisions are handled on a case-by-case basis by the appropriate planning parties and communicated to participants accordingly. Check social media GoFrogs.com and TCU Athletics for sporting event updates. For all other campus events, visit the main TCU channel and TCU Student Affairs social media.
Updates
TCU's Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor weather reports throughout the closure. Any updates will be communicated in the same manner as the closing – through TCU Alert (text, phone, email), the TCU homepage, TCU News, TCU social media and local media.
More information about Horned Frog Hazards emergency preparedness can be found on our public safety webpage.
