Washington: A fake 911 call saying the White House was on fire sent emergency vehicles to the complex on Monday morning (Washington time), as a wave of “beatings” targeting US political figures continued.
US President Joe Biden and his family were away when fire engines and other emergency vehicles responded to a report shortly after 7 a.m. that the White House was on fire and a person was trapped inside, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The person was not authorized to talk about the fake emergency call and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
Within minutes, District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services and U.S. Secret Service personnel determined the report was false and called off the response.
The person called at the 911 report callback number said he didn't put it down, suggesting he was likely a scammer.

Biden and his family were at the Camp David resort. He is scheduled to return to the White House on Monday afternoon after spending part of the weekend at the presidential retreat in Maryland and participating in a service event in Philadelphia to mark Martin Luther King Day.
American political figures have been hit by a wave of fake emergency calls in the past few months.
On Christmas Day, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene posted on X, previously Twitter, “Just got hit on. This is like the 8th time. Christmas with my family here.”
