DENVER (KDVR) — Most of Colorado will have very cold conditions today with a few rounds of snow and subzero wind chills. Every day of the weekend is a fine weather alert day with extreme cold and snow.

Wind chill warnings remain in effect for the Front Range and eastern Plains until 11 a.m. Tuesday.

    Today's weather: cold and snowy

Cloudy skies will continue throughout the day with light snowfall in the metros, but will persist in the central mountains. Highs today will be very cold in the single digits, but wind chill values will be below zero with light winds.

Winter Storm Watches and Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for the higher elevations until 5pm tonight, but I expect more snow to be issued on Sunday.

    Weather tonight: cold and snowy

The cold continues tonight as light snow returns to the metro as temperatures drop back into the negative single digits.

Looking ahead: More snow and cold before a quick warm-up

Snow will continue to fall on the highlands of the country on Sunday afternoon and evening, with moderate to heavy snowfall expected. Denver will see a round or two of light snow during the morning hours. High temperatures in Denver on Sunday will reach around 10 degrees with cloudy skies and light winds. Monday could also bring some snow showers in the morning with cloudy skies during the afternoon as highs only reach the single digits. Temperatures remain cold through Tuesday morning, which is when the wind chill warning for the Front Range and eastern Plains will expire.

Snowfall totals look like just a few inches across the Front Range and eastern Plains as of late Monday, but the high country looks great. Some ski areas could see up to 2 feet over the entire weekend.

Total remaining snowfall from Saturday morning until Monday evening

Tuesday will see clear skies during the afternoon with highs in the lower 30s. Temperatures will rise above average on Wednesday as we approach the 50 degree mark with sunny skies. Thursday adds some extra clouds with highs in the upper 30s and a slight chance of a quick shower. Friday wraps up the week with partly sunny skies and highs in the lower 30s.
