Even before the current war, children in the Gaza Strip were experiencing multiple rounds of fighting between Palestinian armed groups and Israel.

In 2021, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) ran a report about a girl named Nadine Abdel Latif.

Now 13, she is a popular vlogger on Instagram, describing what happened to her and other children during the war.

Nadine's older brother, Ahmed, was killed in an Israeli airstrike while she and her family were forced to flee their home in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City. They have since been displaced to Rafah.

In Gaza, more than 23,350 people – most of them women and children – have been killed, according to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health, since the war began following Hamas attacks on southern Israel on October 7.

These attacks resulted in the killing of about 1,300 people – most of them civilians – and the holding of about 240 others hostage.
