More than 240 people are believed to have been kidnapped on October 7.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced on Friday that 132 hostages remain in Gaza, and that 25 of them have been confirmed dead, bringing the estimated number of living hostages to 107. Israel includes hostages who were killed and whose bodies are still held by Hamas in its count.

The majority of the remaining hostages are Israeli or dual nationals, and male. John Kirby, spokesman for the White House National Security Council, said approximately eight Americans remain detained in Gaza. The only two children on Israel's hostage list remaining are Kfir Bibas, who was 9 months old when he was kidnapped, and his 4-year-old brother Ariel. Israel said it was studying Hamas's claims regarding the killing of the Bibas children and their mother, Sheri.

Ten of the remaining hostages are foreign citizens, according to Israel. Levy previously described the breakdown as eight Thai nationals, one Nepalese and one Franco-Mexican.
