On Thursday, they released their first new song since 2011. It's called “Application for Release From the Dream,” and it comes 13 years after the release of the post-hardcore band's last album. Irreversible. They made their live debut at a concert in Albany, New York, which was also their first single in 25 years without a record label. Listen below.

Announcing the new song on Instagram, Thursday shared the following statement:

Tonight we release our first song in 13 years. It's also our first release in 25 years without a record label. It's been 25 years since we set out in a white pickup truck to play in basements and VFW halls — attics, kitchens, backyards — with a stack of burned-out CD records marked in black Sharpie: “Summer Tour '99.” In those 25 years, there were many highway breakdowns, many emergency rooms, and run-ins with the law. There's a lot of time spent laughing in the studio, and many hours huddled together backstage or carrying equipment in the rain. And yes, 25 years of legal disputes and public outbursts. But now we are free. We are free to make our mistakes. The freedom to turn this band into whatever we dream of, whether we want to make it a rotating group of members, a small cottage industry, a publishing house, a record label, or just a group of friends who still have fun together after all these years. So tonight we take the stage at a small indie venue like we did when we released Full Collapse (23 years ago this week) or back when we released No Devolucion (13 years ago this week). The kind of place we hope to continue playing as long as they stay with us. Because no matter how many plays we played during those 25 years, we remained – in our hearts – a little band, a bunch of kids still screaming in the basement. But we're your little band and we love you. Thanks for everything. We'll see you at midnight, depending on your time zone. “It's just a moment now.”
