Bay Area band Sour Widows have announced their debut LP, Reviving a friend, which is scheduled to be released on June 28 on Exploding in Sound. To celebrate the news, they're sharing new single “Cherish,” along with a video directed by Carr Conway. You can check it out below, then scroll down for the album cover art (by Ben Styer and Mac Pogue) and tracklist.
“‘Cherish’ is a plea for love disguised as a curse against the world,” said band member Maya Sinico in a statement. “I started struggling with my mental health in my late teens, and the loss of my partner at 21 – combined with the turmoil in our relationship – exacerbated these issues. I was a very angry person, and went through several years of emotional rollercoaster. They both wanted to connect and be seen while I get angry about the state of my life, and I would lash out just to make a connection with someone, even if that connection is painful. To cherish something is to love it for all it is. The song says everything I couldn't say to my family and friends in that sad state; I hope that It serves as a reminder that we all deserve to be cherished through our hardships, even when we are at our hardest times in love.
