“My Trust in You is Broken” revolves around the era of block size wars in 2017, in particular BitPay's defense of SegWit2x, which would have increased Bitcoin's maximum block size. Seeing this, Dorier was motivated to create a BTCPay server in challenge to this centralized control, enabling merchants to accept Bitcoin directly on their own, and promoting decentralization and independence from intermediaries.
The 42-minute documentary highlights the importance of verifying transactions and the risks associated with blindly trusting third parties. It showcases the journey of BTCPay Server since its inception in 2017, and highlights its evolution into a community platform known for its privacy and independence features.
The film, which began production at the Bitcoin 2023 conference in Miami, captures key moments and interviews with BTCPay contributors, providing a comprehensive perspective on the evolution of Bitcoin as a medium of exchange. The “My Trust in You is Broken” campaign aims to serve as a testament to the ongoing evolution of Bitcoin and the importance of community initiatives like the BTCPay server in shaping its future.
This is a lie, my trust in you is broken, I will make you obsolete
