Forget Cannes's famous Croisette and Grasse's lavender fields, the Côte d'Azur will soon be home to another one-of-a-kind attraction: the first-ever Miss France Museum.
The city's mayor, Frédéric Mascullier, and the Miss France Association announced that they had signed a partnership agreement, outlining their plans to open the Miss France Museum in the coastal city of Saint-Raphael in 2025.
According to the announcement, the beauty pageant-themed museum will be set up inside an elegant Belle Epoque villa.
Once inside, visitors will be taken on a journey through the history of the area Miss France contestwith an impressive collection of more than a hundred unique outfits worn by Miss France candidates over the years, winners' crowns, paintings and video snippets of must-see moments.
“One day, when we opened the doors of the Miss France fashion store, we said to ourselves… It is sad that all these wonderful clothes have to remain for so many years in a dark room,” said Frederic Gilbert, president of Miss France. Community explained. “The idea came to create an exhibition that would reveal…the amazing work that was done on these costumes and that would highlight French knowledge.”
According to local newspaper Var-Matin, developing the site will cost an estimated 1.5 million euros.
Miss France is a national beauty pageant held in France every December. It was first launched in 1920 and has been running annually since 1947. Typically, the winner represents France in the Miss Universe or Miss World competitions, where the first runner-up competes. In the other competition.
The current title holder is Model Eve Gill (born 2003) – Best known for being the first woman with short hair to win the pageant – she won the crown after winning the regional Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais pageant.
