Sis has announced a new album titled Vibuti. Scheduled for release on June 21 via Native Cat, and featuring the previously released single “Center of the Heart,” Jenny Mason has today shared a new song titled “Mother’s Grace.” Check it out below.
“This song started out very quietly in terms of the vocal elements, which reflects my intention – I wanted to write about the concept of seeking the Divine Mother’s blessing in my life,” Mason explained in a statement. “More specifically, I was finding new ways in my speech, to pause and ask for help before I said something in a difficult situation. Or as Sri Aurobindo wrote, ‘When I speak, reason says: This I will say; But God takes the word from my mouth, and the lips say something else that makes the mind tremble.” Then, as the rhythmic layers built, I felt it move more toward a kind of joyful, uplifting sound that was reflective of the building of joy and strength in my own life at the time.
Vibuti Inspired by the works of the 20th century Indian mystic Sri Aurobindo and his co-mother. It features longtime collaborators Prejean and Doug Stewart on percussion, bass and production, Resavoir's Will Miller on trumpet and Devendra Banhart on electric guitar.
