RAPID CITY, SD (KELO) — Rapid City area middle school students got a chance to learn about different world cultures today at the South Dakota Mines Cultural Fair.

This cultural exploration involves international students representing and sharing information about their home countries.

Most of the 11 cultural stalls are run by School of Mines students, who happily represent their country and culture.

“This is like the Midwest, like the middle of the American country, so showing that there are so many different countries that exist in the Midwest and are able to showcase their cultures is, I think, a great way for Americans to get to know each other,” said Yash Nayak, a student volunteer with SD Mines. on different cultures.”

The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology's Cultural Expo features 11 different cultures with a host of unique backgrounds for all of these students to learn about. To date, many schools have emerged to learn about all the different cultures that exist around the world.

One of the schools attending was Empower ED, which often takes field trips to help students explore new things.

“The fans, that was really cool, how they use the fans. It's pretty cool but it's only a one-time thing and it's amazing to get this opportunity,” said Valeria Huerta, an Empower education management student.

“I think it's a good learning experience. It helps you expand your view of the world and meet new people,” said Fritz Ranjic, Empower ED student.

Maines hopes that each student can learn something new to take with them after this event.

“The most important thing is for them to learn that there are different cultures and that they have their own traditions and values that will be different from theirs. So I think it's very important to know that, and I hope the students will also learn all the wonderful things that all the different countries have to offer,” Nayak said. “The wonderful languages, the clothes, the food they have.”

The cultural exhibition continues on Saturday with the participation of 9 different cultures, including food and entertainment.
