David Bazan announces new Pedro the Lion album, Santa Cruz, is scheduled for release on June 7 via Polyvinyl. It continues a planned five-album arc that began in 2019 Phoenix And 2022 Havasu. “Of all the melodies on these records, I can’t think of another one where I was really expressing my own agency,” Bazan said of the new song. “It was the first time I was really able to choose what I wanted to do. It became very clear during those six months that I lived in Modesto that I didn't want to work any other job — I wanted to try making music. This song feels like the starting point for what became the life I chose.
