ATLANTA – Mayor Andre Dickens has announced the appointment of Christine Edwards to serve as the new Director of Nightlife and Culture within the Office of Film, Entertainment and Nightlife. Mayor Dickens created this role early in his administration to serve as a liaison between the City and nightlife industry leaders, and to provide resources and educational opportunities for the nightlife industry such as “Training Day” workshops.
“Over the past few years, we've been able to foster better relationships between the city's nightlife community and Atlanta, and we've seen some real results,” Dickens said. “The training day workshops, live networking and other avenues have delivered tangible things that enable all residents, visitors and operators to enjoy the thriving scene our city has to offer. We look forward to Christine joining the team and continuing to build on these relationships for a safe and thriving nightlife scene.”
Edwards most recently served as Director of Special Events and Facilities for the City of Winder. There, she led the development and implementation of First Friday style events and seasonal festivals, fostering stronger relationships between businesses and the city. She was also the primary liaison between the City and special event organizers and led the planning and organization of the City's venues and green spaces for festivals and events.
Prior to her work at Winder, Edwards served as senior director of member services events for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. She also worked as an events coordinator for the City of Duluth.
Edwards holds a BS in Business Administration and Marketing from Georgia Gwinnett College and an MBA from Kennesaw State University.
Edwards began her new role on March 28.
