Directors Bass and Moore commented, “Listening to the song feels like a last look into your past and the rollercoaster of emotions that can follow. A taste of the universal nostalgia that we all experience. To visualize those feelings, we aimed to recreate the adventures of our youth. A combination of all the fond memories and idyllic days that Lived in the Midwest. A little bit of childhood wonder, a little rebellion, and a touch of true friendship. To capture these fantasies, we let the boys just play. We created these scenarios and then asked them to let loose and have fun. Fortunately, the boys were excellent and we ended up with something we think is It resonates and feels sincere.
“There's usually one song on each of my albums that makes me cry, and that's the one this time,” Kinsella added of “Hit and Run.”
