Voters who own cryptocurrencies are leaning towards voting for US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to a poll conducted by investment firm Paradigm on Thursday.
The poll showed that 48% of cryptocurrency owners plan to vote for Trump, and 39% of cryptocurrency owners plan to vote for President Joe Biden. Thirteen percent are undecided.
“Among crypto holders, 43% remember voting for President Biden in 2020, and only 39% of cryptocurrency voters remember voting for former President Trump that year,” Paradigm said. “So it appears that some of the voters that President Biden is now losing to Trump are crypto holders, perhaps due to actions taken by some agencies in the Biden administration.”
Paradigm, along with Public Opinion Strategies, conducted the survey. The opinions of 1,000 registered voters were polled online from February 28 to March 4, with a margin of error of 3.5 percent, according to the center. launch.
The poll also showed that 19% of registered voters said they had bought cryptocurrencies — 19% of Democrats, 18% of Republicans, and 24% of independent voters.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs
Since the Securities and Exchange Commission approved bitcoin ETFs in January, 6% of U.S. voters have invested in them, and another 6% said they plan to, according to the poll.
“Spot crypto ETFs, as expected, are proving to be a major vehicle for attracting Americans to cryptocurrencies, and may end up being a step towards direct crypto ownership,” Paradigm said.
