Lebanon (MNN) – As the consequences of war continue to devastate Lebanon, its people are in survival mode. Victorious Mercy Lebanon It addresses immediate concerns while helping people look beyond the body to the needs of their soul.
The Lebanese have been living their daily lives for years. On their own Civil war Which ended in 1990 to continue Clashes with Israel As an extension of the Syrian civil war, many Lebanese do not have the luxury of making future plans. They simply cannot rely on many of the processes that others take for granted.
“Everything is short-term,” says Nouna with triumphant compassion in Lebanon. In people's lives, they live day by day… They don't know if we will see war tomorrow. They do not know whether tomorrow we will have fuel shortages, food shortages, and there will be no flour (which has happened before). Suddenly, we ran out of flour. Suddenly, we ran out of fuel. Suddenly, something happens. So, this is how we live.”
Dealing with burnout
Living without any long-term stability is physically and mentally difficult. This fatigue affects everyone, not just the leadership in ministries. No matter what your job, constantly worrying about the next day is tiring.
Nona says that in order to combat the heavy mental burdens, she takes breaks from thinking about ministry or even just regular future planning for her life and returns to reading, praying, and entering into time to think about the Lord instead of daily life. She encourages others to do the same.
TM Lebanon applies this strategy to deal with shock and burnout that extends not only to its workers, but to its beneficiaries as well. “Every day, we also send a devotional. We have hundreds in WhatsApp groups, and every day we send a devotional so that they have at least 5-10 minutes to listen to the devotion. They need to stop thinking about the urgent need.
Searching for true peace
Nona emphasizes that this strategy is some of the most practical care they provide. No matter what problems come, the condition of people's souls is the most urgent. There is no lasting peace without a relationship with God.
“He is our peace. He is not just the God of peace, he is our peace,” Nona says. “If we don’t have peace on the inside, no matter what happens around us, we won’t have peace because there is no peace on the outside. You will have problems, you will have problems with people, you will have enmities, you will have all of this. Therefore, I truly pray that people will find a place to turn to in the midst of problems and hardships.
This truth applies to everyone, in any situation. Whether you are facing the harsh realities of war, facing family hardships, health concerns, or something else, peace only comes through Christ.
Please pray that the peace of Jesus will invade the hearts and minds of TM Lebanon and those who work among them. “We need the light of Jesus. We need the hope of Jesus to come and go into all these places of darkness and culture. That is our mission – but that is also the mission of the Spirit. It is more than our mission. He does it. He is the one who can illuminate that spirit in them… Truly we need Jesus – the peace of Jesus, the light of Jesus to illuminate our world, so that we may become lights.
