CLEVELAND (WJW) — Old man winter is sticking around as long as it can, pushing another round of snow across Northeast Ohio on Sunday. Early risers and churchgoers are expected to be affected, as they encounter icy or snowy road conditions.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is monitoring inclement weather and will be ready to intervene to keep roads safe and clear for drivers.

“Around midnight, we will bring the crews in,” said Amanda McFarland, public information officer for ODOT Northeast. “The numbers will vary depending on exactly how that snow lines up. But we have a lot of people ready to come when there's a need.”

The forecast calls for 1-6 inches of snow Sunday morning, but the hardest hit area will be the Snow Belt.

“Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula and eastern Cuyahoga counties — fortunately, this falls on a Sunday and not a Monday morning, but there will still be a lot of people out tomorrow morning,” McFarland said. “So, we just ask that our crews be given plenty of space so they can keep the roads as safe and convenient as possible for everyone.”

With rain falling on Saturday, making it difficult for ODOT crews to be able to treat (brine) the roads before the snow falls. McFarland recommends motorists be aware of icy conditions, especially on bridges.

The Cleveland Clinic is testing “magic mushrooms” as a treatment for this problem

“Certainly anyone who travels to work early on a Sunday or goes to church on a Sunday could be affected by this,” she said. “Just give yourself plenty of extra time. We'll have snowplows and they'll be working around the clock as soon as the snow starts blowing. So, you might find yourself behind one of our snowplows, you might be a little late trying to get to your destination, with several hundred people behind.” Feet.

High winds may also bring snow or blowing snow that may cause plowed roads to be resurfaced. McFarland said the on- and off-ramps on the freeway are key areas to be careful because of this. Motorists are encouraged to spend more time on their commute and be careful while driving.
